The polymer was tested in bulk heterojunction solar cells with [6,6]-phenyl-C₆₁-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) acceptor at various weight ratios. This study showed that the power conversion efficiencies (PCE) remained independent of the weight ratio of polymer/PCBM ranging from 1:1 to 1:12. This independence was interpreted as an effect of the presence of low molecular weight oligomers and terthiophene monomer which acted as plasticizers in the solar cell devices.
